What is a Quora Space?
Spaces is a new feature that allows people to curate collections and form communities around shared interests and tastes. Spaces can be used in a number of different ways, and we're launching with a diverse set of creators that reflect the range of possibilities. For example:
- A group of people can work together to curate the most interesting answers and links about a particular area of interest, such as Farm-to-Plate or SaaS Daily.
- An individual can use Spaces to organize their own writing into different sections, as Robert Frost is doing with his collection of his Space Exploration answers, and Mac Tan is doing with his answers on the US Midterm Election.
- A community of people can create a Space to have shared conversations with each other, like Science Lounge or Defense Quorum.
How are Spaces different from blogs?
While blogs and Spaces have similar features right now, we intend for Spaces to be capable of doing everything blogs can do and a lot more. Spaces already have lower friction to contribution with support for shares, links, and short posts. We've learned a lot from our experience with blogs and we think knowledge-sharing works best in groups, whether big or small, and want to support that use case really well. For example, a Space can choose whether it wants comments from everyone or just its own contributors, and we'll be continuing to expand the feature set over time.
How do I start a Space?
At this time, the ability to create new Spaces is limited to a handful of writers and publishing partners. We'll be using this initial phase to collect feedback, iterate, and ensure that we've built a robust product before releasing it to everyone on Quora.
If you have an idea for a new Space that you feel is a good fit for this phase, please send us your idea via this https://blog.quora.com/Introducing-Spaces.. If approved, you'll be able to add additional contributors. You can read more about Spaces here:
How can I contribute to a Space?
Anyone who isn't already a contributor can apply to become one by going to the 'People' tab and clicking on the “Apply here!” banner. The request should include an explanation of why they want to become a contributor. Our Space admins and moderators will then review these requests.
I'm a Space admin/moderator, how can I review my contributor requests?
Admins and moderators can see pending requests on the 'People' tab and have the option to approve or decline each of them. Approving a request will automatically make the requester a contributor, and these actions will be recorded in the admin log. Space admins can also turn this feature off in their Space 'Settings' at any time.
Can a Space admin add additional moderators or admins to a Space?
Admins can invite others to be moderators to help manage content and submissions in their Spaces. Moderators can do the following:
- Approve or reject submissions
- Disable commenting on content
- Hide content in Spaces
- Invite others to be moderators
Admins can also invite others to be co-admins or transfer ownership to others by removing themselves as admins.
To add moderators or admins to a Space, visit the 'People' tab and click the '+ Invite' button in the 'Admins' or 'Contributors' section.
How can I find out who the Space admin is?

- Admin(s) will be listed at the top of this page

You'll see Spaces content in your feed if you a) follow that Space, b) follow the author of that content, or c) someone you follow upvotes that content.
How can I control the amount of notifications I get for a Space?
To control your Space notifications, go to the Space page and click on the icon, located on the right-hand side of the page. A drop-down menu will appear and you'll be able to select the frequency of your notifications.
How can I share a post from a Space?
To allow posts to reach a wider audience, we recently introduced the ability for users to share posts with their followers or to another Space they contribute to.
To share a post, click on the 'Share' or 'Reshare' button that appears directly below the post.
If I write a post or link in a Space, who can see it?
Followers of a Space will be able to see posts or links you've shared in the Space, as well as anyone that visits the Space.

Comments can be viewed by anyone.

Can I restrict who can see a Space?
Spaces are public and can be seen by anyone.
Will someone that I blocked be able to see or comment on a Space that I'm in?
Blocking someone will make it so that they can't see your posts or shares in a Space; however, they can still see and participate in the Space. If you are an admin of the Space, you can block that person from the Space, regardless of whether or not you've blocked them on their profile.
Can I cancel an invitation to join a Space as a contributor or follower?
At this time, you won't be able to cancel an invitation. You'll need to wait for the user to accept the invitation. Once it has been accepted, you'll be able to remove the user from the Space by going to "People", selecting the "..." next to the user you'd like to remove, and then selecting "Block". Blocking the user will remove them as a contributor of the Space, and make them unable to join, comment, or add content to the Space. Please note that a blocked user can still follow the Space and view its content.
What happens when I block a user in my Space?
Blocking a user from your Space will remove them from the Space and make them unable to join, comment, or add content. They can still follow and view the Space. This action can be undone.
Can a non-contributor add content to a space?
We've added the ability for non-contributors to submit posts or shares to a Space for admin approval; when a submission is accepted, it is published directly to the Space.
For followers or users unaffiliated with a Space: You can now submit content to any Space that's accepting submissions. You will be notified if your submission is accepted.
For Space admins: You will be notified when submissions are made to your Space, and you can approve or decline them from the Spaces Submissions tab. Lastly, you can disable submissions for the Space in the Space's Settings.
Can I ask a question in a Space?
Each Space can start its own ever-growing collection of questions and answers. For example, parents can share and discuss a child's first movie-going experienceand you're guaranteed to get answers from parents, written with other parents in mind.
Please note that questions posed to a Space can only be answered by contributors of that Space.
