Promoted Answers are answers on Quora that an individual or business has promoted in order to reach a wider group of people who may be interested in a particular answer or the product or service it describes. All promoted answers are clearly labeled with a “Promoted by” label and the name of the individual or business who is promoting the answer. Aside from that, Promoted Answers are the same as other answers on Quora. You can still upvote, downvote, share, and comment on Promoted Answers.
Promoting an answer grants an answer greater distribution, meaning that it can be shown to more people. When an answer is promoted, it may be shown in any feed on Quora (such as the home page feed or on a topic page feed) or on a question page. Promoting an answer does not change or influence the ranking of the answer on the question page. To learn more about how answers are ranked on a question page, read How does the ranking of answers on Quora work?
Businesses may wish to promote an answer written by a user who isn't directly associated with the business. As mentioned, this gives the answer greater distribution and can improve that author's following and credibility on Quora. However, if you would like to opt out of your answers being promoted, you can do that on your Settings page.
