Yes! Although we currently do not use answers, posts or comments added to Quora by our user community to train LLMs used for generating content on Quora, we allow opt outs. You can learn more about LLMs and how Quora uses them here.
How do I opt-out?
This new opt-out setting is available under your privacy settings page as "Allow large language models to be trained on your content".
Why is this opt-out setting available if Quora does not use my content to train LLMs?
As of now, we do not use answers, posts, or comments added to Quora to train LLMs used for generating content on Quora. However, this may change in the future, and we want you to have options about how your content is used.
What happens when I opt-out?
Moving forward, your content on Quora (i.e. answers, posts, and comments) will not be used by LLMs for training purposes. However, opting out does not cover everything. Here are some things to note:
- Any comments you make on a machine-generated answer on Quora may still be used for training because they are directly in response to that machine-generated answer.
- AI models being used for purposes other than generating content (e.g. used for ranking, moderation, spam detection, labeling etc.) do not fall under this setting.
- As Quora is accessible to the public worldwide, a third party may access your content and use it to train an LLM. This would be in violation of our terms of service, but we cannot guarantee that we can prevent it from happening.
- Quora may grant other companies the right to train LLMs. If we do this, the same opt out setting will apply to their use of content on Quora as well.
- The setting is effective at the time you opt-out i.e. any future training won't use your content. However, LLMs previously trained on your content will not unlearn what they were originally trained on.
